Fun Fact #1

This may seem like an obvious fact, but Earth is home to humans. With this being said, there are so many parts of Earth that we have experienced first hand, and can see the incredible features ourselves.

Here is a list of Earth's main features:

• There are seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.
• Athough 80% of species on Earth are still undiscovered, there are 8.7 million species that have been documented

Fun Fact #2

The Earth was once believed to be the centre of the universe. Because we live in it, our great ancestors once thought that Earth was the main component in space. This video clearly shows how Earth is actually quite miniscule. It is difficult to fathom the complexity of space beyond our planet, but this video puts things into perspective for us.

Fun Fact #3

Earth is actually the only planet not named after a god. There are 7 other planets in our solar system, and they are all named after Roman gods or Goddesses. Mars, Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter were all named during ancient times becuase they were visbale to the naked eye, but when Uranus and Neptune were later discovered, scientists decided to keep things consistant and retain the trend to also name them after gods and goddesses.
